Dear SuperBock

Thanks for coming yesterday! It was just what I needed: a cold superbock whilst watching 4-4 arsenal v totenham. You made my day… again!

The summer has long gone, and with it my tan…

SuperBock was one of the highlights believe me!

Back to the good ol’ Nottingham, where superbock can be only bought from an handful of places… Mind you that I’ve found Sagres on tap in Dogma (uou!).

I got some Superbock from Tesco and soon I am going to crack open a bottle (probably wednesday…)

Cheerio!!

Dear Super Bock

I know I promised to write every time I see you… I have to confess that I owe you 2 posts :D

But a promise is a promise and I should write about our last encounter.

Last weekend I have been to London, where I visited a couple of friends – Miguel and Ryo – and where I visited Amy’s Brother Andrew.

I have been to London first to celebrate Andrew’s birthday, wedding anniversary (it was in the same day) and his baby to born (due beginning of October, although the mum is doing everything so he/she is born in September); and second I used my time to celebrate my friendship a longer one (with Miguel) and a recent one (with Ryo).

Miguel just recently found a new house sharing with other Portuguese people (one of them is from Leiria and he says that he knows or have seen me probably in Sao Pedro – small world, a common place). He kindly allowed me and my Amy to sleep in his “new” house, which is situated in Hammersmith very close to the craven cottage football stadium – house of Fulham (I know you like football dear SuperBock).

Ryo is in “moving house process” from tooting broadway to tooting bec (you know I am referring to London tube stations as a geographical reference), so I payed him a visit to check his new crib and I have to say I liked it. By the way have I told you that Ryo is coming to Portugal soon? we will probably meet you there.

Ok, Miguel has been very excited (maybe not that much) with this place he found near Old Street. For 3 reasons: 1) they do chourico, although it is spanish (I know…); 2) they have Foosball, you know “matrecos” (although good it is the French version, not a match to the good old Portuguese battered ones) and more important 3) they have SuperBock!.

We tried to go there Friday, but due to our late arrival at london and to the particularities of london underground, when some lines fail if you don’t have a backup plan the best is to go back home, we had to stay in a more central location. We ended up eating sushi at “Samurai” near Picadilly circus and went clubbing (Hey guys do you wanna go clubbing?) to blowupmetro (http://www.blowupmetro.com/). It is a nice place but they only have RedStripe (I know it is not the same, but it is Jamaican beer so it kind the puts you in the right vibe).

Saturday we had a mission – You (!!) were our mission. After visiting Ryo, who joined the party in our quest, we headed to Old Street, our destination Bar Kick (you can check it here http://www.cafekick.co.uk/BK_location.html). It was strange being in UK and seeing a bar where most people like and enjoy you as much as I do. It could have been the price, at £2.90 you were the cheapest (but also the best). After Ryo finished fighting for a table and chairs, we sat and ate: choric(z)o, olives and bread and a Kick platter (some cheese and parmaham). I have to confess I started with a Sagres (it is never as good as you…) but then I indulged myself with the proper thing – a good old cold SuperBock! I even had a Stout! Brilliant! After that we went to the tables – the Foosball tables, yes the “matrecos”. We played until was time to leave.

Probably our next encounter is in our homeland, I might not have time to write everytime I see you. After all we are going to be together so many times!

See you soon

Ricardo

It has been a while since I have blogs.

Actually my first blog came after an adventure. I found a cat and in the process lost the house keys.

The title of this blog reflects something that has been very clear for me.

everything is better when its done together with a SuperBock. For those of you that don’t know SuperBock is the best selling beer in Portugal.

Living in UK for more than two and a half years (doing a Ph fuckin D), there things that remind me from where I come from.

not only that but the fact that in UK is raining in the summer and in Portugal is sunny…. and hot. very hot.

The fact that I look in the mirror everyday to try to find the long lost sun tan….

Anyway – just watch this space. I will be writing here every time I get my hands on a SuperBock!

Cheers
